Get help with your trading journal

Questions about TradeJournalingApp on iPhone and Android all land in one inbox. A developer at VSB DEVS reads every message and replies within two business days. Pick a topic below, or email us directly.

Topics

Pick what your message is about

Each card opens your email app with the subject line and a short form ready to go. Add your message, fill in what applies and delete the rest.

  • App crash or bug

To help us fix it in one reply, tell us what you tapped just before the app crashed, froze or showed something odd. Say whether it happens every time. A screenshot or screen recording shows the problem best.

  • Exchange sync or import problem

Tell us the exchange or broker, such as Bybit or MetaTrader 5. Add the file type, such as CSV, Excel or a MetaTrader statement. If a sync failed, the app explains why in plain words, like a wrong key or a missing permission. Copy that message into your email so we can help faster.

Never send your API key, API secret or any password. We don't need them to help you.

  • A number looks wrong

Tap the figure on the dashboard first. It shows the calculation filled in with your own numbers. Still puzzled? Send the trade's entry and exit prices, size and fees, the result the app showed and the result you expected. Say whether you were viewing money, R or %, so we work it out the same way.

  • Backup and restore

Tell us which phone made the backup and which phone you're restoring on. Before you commit, a restore shows what's inside the file: trades, accounts, notes, screenshots and the dates it covers. Tell us what it showed. Restoring from a file is always free. Back up now comes with the subscription.

  • Subscriptions and billing

Payments go through the App Store or Google Play, so refunds follow your store's policy. Changed phones or reinstalled the app? Use Restore purchase in the app to bring your subscription back. It's always free. For anything else, send us your order number and purchase date.

  • Privacy and data

Ask what happens to your information or how the app uses Google services. The trade data you enter is stored on your phone and isn't sent to our servers or our partners' servers. There are no accounts, so we can't look up or recover anyone's trades.

Your backup password is never stored or sent anywhere, so nobody can recover it. Keep it somewhere safe.

  • Used the old Trading Journal?

Your trades from the classic view appear in the new app automatically, and later edits follow them. Trades you log in the new view stay in the new view. On Android, switch to the classic view from the More tab, and back from the classic menu. If something looks different from what you expect, tell us which view you're in.

  • Feature request

Tell us what you'd like the app to do and when you'd use it. An example from your own trading helps us picture the idea.

  • Press and partnerships

Writing a review, making trading education content or planning a collaboration? Tell us who you are, what you have in mind and your rough timeline.

Before you send

What to include in your email

So we can answer in one reply, add whichever of these apply to your question.

  • Your phone model and its iOS or Android version, for example iPhone 15 on iOS 26 or Pixel 8 on Android 16. On iPhone, both are under Settings > General > About. Most Android phones show them under Settings > About phone.
  • The app version. You'll find it on the app's page in the App Store or Google Play.
  • Where the trades came from: typed in by hand, synced from an exchange or imported from a file. Name the exchange or broker, and for a file, its type. The app reads CSV, TSV and TXT, Excel (.xlsx and .xls), MetaTrader statements (.htm and .html) and Quicken (.ofx and .qfx).
  • Any message the app showed, word for word. When a sync fails, the message says why and what to do, such as a wrong key, a missing permission or an expired key.
  • For a number that looks wrong: the trade's prices, size and fees, plus the result you expected.
  • Your account currency, country and timezone, if the question involves amounts, dates or times.
  • What you did just before the problem, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can take one.

Never send API keys, API secrets or passwords, including your backup password. We don't need them to help you, and we will never ask for them.

Response time

A developer replies within two business days. If you haven't heard back by then, check your spam folder, then write again.

Language

We read and reply in English. Short sentences and a screenshot are often all it takes.

Refunds and cancellations

Payments go through the App Store or Google Play, so you manage your subscription there.

  • iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  • Android: open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.

Refunds follow your store's policy. If your store can't help, email us your order number, the purchase date and your country.

What we can't help with

  • Trading advice or trade picks. The app helps you learn from your own trades, and every decision stays yours.
  • Looking up or recovering your trades. There are no accounts and your journal stays on your phone, so a backup is your best protection.
  • Opening a backup whose password you've forgotten. The password is never stored or sent anywhere, so nobody can recover it, including us.

The Terms of Use explain what the app's numbers are, and what they aren't.

Quick answers

Your answer might already be here

These questions come up often. If one of them covers yours, you have your answer right now.

Can I get my trades back after deleting the app?

Yes, if you made a backup. Your journal lives on your phone and isn't sent to our servers, so a backup file is your safe copy. On first launch, choose Restore from a backup. Restoring is always free. Without a backup, a deleted journal can't be recovered.

I used the old Trading Journal app. What happens to my trades?

They come with you. Trades from the classic view appear in the new app automatically. On Android you can switch back to the classic view from the More tab whenever you like. One passcode, one backup and one subscription cover both views.

Is there a free trial?

The yearly plan starts with a free trial where your app store offers one. On Android you can choose monthly, half-yearly or yearly. On iPhone you can choose weekly or yearly. You can cancel any time in your store's settings.

Which brokers can I import from?

Any broker that gives you a CSV or Excel file. To make it easy, the app has step-by-step export guides for MetaTrader 5, MetaTrader 4, Binance, Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Webull, NinjaTrader, Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Angel One, Dhan, KuCoin and Coinbase. Files are read on your phone, and nothing is uploaded.

Can the app place trades with my API key?

No. Connections to Binance Spot, Binance Futures, Binance COIN-M, Bybit and Bitget only read your history. They can never place, change or cancel an order. Your keys stay in your phone's secure storage, are never part of a backup and are wiped when you disconnect. After restoring on a new phone, add your key again.

What happens to my information?

The trade data you enter is stored on your phone and isn't sent to our servers or our partners' servers. There's no sign-up and no login. The app uses Google Firebase for crash reporting and analytics.
